The government has recently informed all ISPs that airtime is also defined as internet usage and thus ZRA is
imposing a 17.5% excise duty on all end users who take bandwidth from ISPs. We have tried to absorb all costs over the last few years
-- especially in regards to the depreciation of the Kwacha versus the dollar (and most of our costs are dollar based).
Our pricing is in Kwacha. We have never increased prices and we try to be as competitively priced as possible.
Regretfully we cannot also absorb these costs on behalf of clients and will have to pass on this end-user cost to clients.
We deeply regret this, especially in this environment where many businesses and individuals are struggling, but we have to adhere by law to ZRA's ruling.
